Red Feather Inn, Hadspen

Red Feather Inn

The Red Feather Inn is a collection of notable historic sandstone buildings located in Hadspen, 'VIII Miles' from Launceston, Australia's third oldest city. Notable Georgian architect John Sprunt built the Inn with convict labour circa 1842. First licensed in 1844, it was one of Van Diemen's Land's first coaching inns.

Owner Lydia Nettlefold has re-invented the Red Feather Inn in her vision of Georgian 'dancing' with French provincial. This, combined with the ultimate in modern comfort creates a unique atmosphere in this endemic Tasmanian heritage treasure, now the perfect luxury retreat for intimate getaways or very special gatherings.

Completed in August 2008 each suite is beautifully appointed overlooking the secluded garden. All feature superior quality beds, state of the art free-standing baths with endless hot water, gas log heating and more. Curl up in our sitting room with a book or make new friends over the shared table dining experience. The premises are fully licensed and there is ample off-street parking on site.

The in-house chef Lee Christmas, prides himself in using the best local fresh produce from the Inn's vegetable garden and nearby farm where possible. His ever-changing seasonal menu is complimented by cool climate Tasmanian wines. If you want to learn from Lee, try one of the cooking classes offered by the Red Feather Inn Cooking and Lifestyle School, which is operated onsite.
