Cradle Mountain Walks
Great Walks - Overland TrackThis five to eight day adventure threads through the heart of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, jewel of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Several companies offer guided walks ranging from tent-based trips (you carry your own pack), to fully-catered and supported walks using comfortable and fully-equipped private huts. It is essential for walkers planning to walk the Overland Track between November 1 and 30 April to book their departure at www.overlandtrack.com.au. The Overland fee is $150 per adult (inc. GST), with a 20% discount for seniors, Australian pensioner concessionaires and children aged 16 and under. All money raised is used for the long term management of the track. Great Short WalksIf time is limited, Great Short Walks range from a gentle stroll of half an hour or so ending at a rainforest cascade, to a full day's outing in the mountains – all are easily accessible.
