Tarkine Forest Adventures

Tarkine Forest Adventures at Dismal Swamp is located approximately 30 minutes from Smithton and allows visitors to experience the unique ecology of a blackwood forest. Built around the Dismal Swamp sinkhole, Tarkine Forest Adventures offers visitors a range of adventure-based attractions.

Visitors can journey to the base of the sinkhole via an exhilarating 110-metre slide to the forest floor. Boardwalks and pathways around the sinkhole allow visitors to explore the environment whilst viewing incredible Tasmanian artwork that merges design with nature.

Those seeking a more adventurous experience can utilise a series of world-class mountain bike tracks that are suitable for beginners through to experienced riders.

Tarkine Forest Adventures also offer after-dark tours of the area that allow visitors to venture into the blackwood forest by lantern to discover a world rarely seen. Learn about blackwood trees, the Tasmanian Tiger and the lives of the early pioneers through a bushman's tour, during which guides tell stories of the hardship and struggle of the first European settlers to the region

In the award-winning visitor centre, enjoy fine Tasmanian food and wine in the café or visit the gift shop, which features beautiful Tasmanian crafts and produce.

Tarkine Forest Adventures at Dismal Swamp is open 7 days a week (except Christmas day).
Summer: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Winter: 10:00am – 4:00pm
