Morning arrival Hobart, collect car from airport, visit historic village of Richmond then continue to meet the Tassie Devil (and other native animals) at nearby Bonorong Wildlife Park at Brighton. Day tour Hobart and Huon Valley commences with an early drive to the peak of Mt Wellington – allow 30 minutes to reach top – and from here you’ll view all of southern Tasmania and the huon Valley below will beckon your visit during the day. Mt Wellington rises over 1270 metres above the city of Hobart. Travel through the foothills to grove, home to Willie Smiths Cider outlet, continue to Geeveston and beyond to Tahune Airwalk. Return to Hobart via Huonville, detour through the Channel district to Kettering and Woodbridge, where you’ll find the wonderful lunch or afternoon tea stop at Peppermint Bay. Breakfast on the waterfront? Grab the MONA ROMA Ferry and enjoy a leisurely 30 minute cruise upstream to MONA – the famed Museum of Old and New Art. Enjoy the onsite dining and beverage options at MONA including their own Moo Brew, Moorilla Wines and some fantastic local cuisine. Today is a combination of authentic colonial history and amazing scenery, wildlife and more. Travel via Sorell to the Tasman Peninsula, visiting the amazing land formations at Eagle Hawk Neck en route. Be sure to visit the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo at Taranna only 10 minutes from Port Arthur. There are a range of Port Arthur Historic Site entry packages but the site entry fee of $37 will provide you with a 45 minute introduction walking tour followed by a 30 minute harbour cruise. Depart the Tasman Peninsula and travel to the East Coast by way of Orford and Triabunna. Today you will travelling the Great Eastern Drive. Ferry trips to Maria Island are accessible from Triabunna and if you’re here around lunch time be sure to try the Fish Van for the freshest local seafood. Continue to Swansea and pay a visit to Kate’s Berry Farm where you’ll get to taste some of Kate’s finest produce whilst marvelling at the elevated views across to Freycinet National Park. Drive into Coles Bay and you’ll need your National Parks Pass to access the Freycinet National Park – one of the great sights in Tasmania is from the lookout overlooking Wineglass Bay. It is about a 30 minute bush walk but well worth it to reach the peak.. Continue through Bicheno to your next stop at Four Mile Creek, White Sands Estate, just 25 minutes from Bicheno and 30 minutes south of St Helens and Bay of Fires. This morning travel 30 minutes to the fishing village of St Helens, a further short drive to Binalong Bay and Bay of Fires and you’ll be rewarded with even more stunning coastal beaches. Continue on through St Helens via Weldborough (be sure to visit the Pub in the Paddock, where you can meet the stubby drinking pig….that’s a real pig by the way! Nearby Pyengana is also famous for some very tasty cheeses and nearby is St Columba Falls. So from beer, to cheese and a walk into the rainforest you’ll be ready to continue via the north east towns of Scottsdale and if you head to the north coast – Bridport. If you have packed the golf clubs you’ll find arguably two of Tasmania’s finest links golf courses in Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm. If you ask Rosoce (the local pro) nicely he’ll even rent you a set if need be….tick it off your golf bucket list – you wont be disappointed. Take plenty of spare balls! Local attractions around Launceston include Tamar Valley Cruises, Penny Royal World and Hollybank Treetops Adventures. Visit the local Boags Brewery for a tour and tasting and there is of course the Tamar Valley Wine Route to the north and the emerging wine region of Relbia just south of Launceston.

Cradle Mountain is blessed with many short nature walks ideal for any fitness level. those of medium fitness and above should definitely allow 3 hours for the Lake Dove Circuit – leave your car at the visitor centre and take the shuttle bus service. In the afternoon travel via Burnie and head north west to the historic coastal village of Stanley. You’ll likely find fresh lobster in season being served at the Stanley Pub! Check the local wharf for “catch of the day” before heading south to the wild west coast. If you’re up for an early start take a drive to Queenstown (allow at least 45 minutes) and book ahead for the West Coast Wilderness Railway – a steam train ride into some of the most inaccessible rainforest in Tasmania. Travel the path of early pioneers. bookings essential.
Grab lunch at the station then begin the journey south to Hobart. Allow 3.5 hours and we suggest break the journey firstly at Lake St Clair and Derwent Bridge – where you’ll find the incredible “Wall in the Wilderness”. continue via Tarraleah – great afternoon tea stop – and then on into Hobart for your last night.
